Webnovel author terms & publishing policies
Effective 28 September 2026. These rules supplement our site terms, privacy policy and community rules.
Author terms
Authors must be at least 18 and use their own Ascendant Reads account. Publish only work you own or have permission to publish, including cover artwork. You keep ownership. By publishing, you grant Ascendant Reads a non-exclusive permission to host, display and distribute your submitted content through this service, and to show its title, cover and description in site discovery and sharing previews. This does not transfer copyright or permit us to sell your work.
You can unpublish chapters or replace commercially published volumes with edition links. Copies may remain temporarily in backups, security records or third-party caches. Contact us for account deletion and rights requests. Publishing may be suspended or content removed for policy violations. We do not promise distribution, rankings, income or uninterrupted availability. Material policy changes will require updated acceptance before further publishing.
Content & community policy
Publish LitRPG and progression fantasy with accurate descriptions, limited relevant tags and appropriate warnings. Declare violence, gore, strong language, sexual themes, trauma and other mature themes. This beta is intended for readers aged 16 and over; authors must be 18. Content warnings are not an age-verification system.
Do not publish pornography or explicit erotica, sexual content involving minors, hate or targeted harassment, threats, private personal information, scams, spam, illegal material or work uploaded without rights. Do not impersonate another author or manipulate follows, reviews, ratings or readership. Discuss the chapter being read and mark spoilers. Authors cannot review their own novels.
AI content policy
Human-created fiction is the focus. Material use of AI-assisted writing or editing tools must be disclosed. Predominantly AI-generated fiction is not eligible for public Webnovels publication or discovery. We do not use AI detectors to declare authors guilty. Reports and duplicate-text flags go to human review.
External support & published editions
Approved support links may lead to Patreon, Ko-fi, PayPal, Buy Me a Coffee or an author’s website. Benefit claims must be accurate. Readers should check the destination’s price, recurring charges, cancellation and refund terms. Payments go through that external service; Ascendant Reads does not receive or hold creator funds, operate creator subscriptions, or promise external benefits. Supporting Ascendant Reads itself is separate.
Published-edition links may earn Ascendant Reads an Amazon affiliate commission. See our affiliate disclosure. We measure outbound clicks where analytics consent permits; clicks are not proof of payment or revenue.
Copyright & takedown requests
Use “Report novel” or “Report chapter” and select Copyright/plagiarism. You do not need an account to report. Include the exact page address, identify your original work and the allegedly unauthorized material, explain your authority to act, and provide a contact email so we can request clarification. Do not place private addresses in public comments.
If the content is unavailable or your complaint concerns another rights issue, use our contact page. We record complaints and moderation actions, may temporarily restrict disputed material, and review submissions rather than making automated legal judgments. Authors can contact us to dispute a restriction or provide evidence of rights. False or abusive reports may be restricted.
Privacy & measurement
Author names, biographies, published stories, reviews and comments are public. Account emails and reading-progress records are not shown to authors. We store account-linked follows, shelves, reading position, chapter-read records and notification settings to provide those features and limit manipulation. Author dashboards show aggregates, not reader identity lists.
Optional impression, engagement and outbound-click analytics use the existing consent choice. Without analytics consent, optional tracking is not sent. Essential account and moderation records still operate. Browser reading preferences stay on your device. Invitations record opening and author-onboarding milestones. Webnovels notifications appear in your library; signing up does not opt you into marketing email.
For access, correction or deletion requests, use your account controls or contact us. Moderation and complaint records may need to be retained to handle disputes or abuse; they are restricted to administrators.
